Who we are!

I have always loved to read. From as far back as I can remember I have always been reading something. When I was in late elementary school, we joined the library because my mother refused to purchase anymore books if I was just going to read half of it in the car on the way home. So we joined the library and it was all uphill from there. After High School my first “real job” was in a library and there is just something about working around books that I absolutely love. When my husband and I moved so that I would attend college, I secured another job---also at a library.

When I found out my husband and I were expecting our first child I wanted books to be an important part of her life. One of my baby showers was book themed. When the library decided to “weed” and put several of their children’s books up for sale, I was there to scoop them up. Before she was even born she already had a small library.

Naturally, we introduced her to books very early on. She was able to recognize animals, colors, shapes before she could talk. Ava turned two this February, reading is still a very important part of her life.  I think it is safe to say that she owns more books than she does toys. We make trips to the library several times a week and we read between 5-15 books every day (sometimes much, much more). As a result, I have came across some very fantastic books for children (and adults too). I’d like to use this blog as an opportunity to share some of our favorites with you and try to encourage reading in your homes if it is not already an important part of your day.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy!
